Color Me Silly Frog

I made this card for Project Sunshine and Smiles over at My Cricut Craft Room.  They are collecting cards for the children at St Jude's Hospital to fill their day with sunshine and smiles!  I stumbled across this blog and project only last week and made some cards to get to them ASAP since their original deadline was today but thankfully they have extended their deadline by nearly TWO MONTHS which gives me plenty of time to make lots of cards to cheer up a sick child's day!  If you are interested in making cards for this great cause then check out Erica's blog for all of the info.  Cards must be postmarked by August 25th so there is still plenty of time to get crafting and bring a smile to a sick child's face!
The finished card is 5x7.  I cut the frog at 3 1/2" from Give A Hoot.  The papers I used are some fun (and ancient) papers from Basic Grey from a collection called Color Me Silly.  The sun is from an old Unity KOM (July 2009) and the sentiment is also Unity (Watermelon Gazpacho Soup).  And googly eyes of course cause I just love googly eyes on kids cards!!!

Mickey Mouse and Pals

I love making kids cards for OWH, they're probably my favorite to make.  These were just some quick cards I made using some fun Mickey Mouse papers.  I love the comic strip paper and the contrast of the bright and cheerful characters!  I left them sentiment free so that they could be more readily used.
I made about 10 of these with different colored cardstock and slight variations.  The characters are "popped" up with dimensional tape.

Love cards for OWH

I've been working on getting some cards done to send to Operation Write Home and these are for their 2nd Million Challenge due June 30th.  I know they're kind of valentiney, can you tell I was using up some old papers!?!  The labels are cut from Spellbinders dies and the sentiments are Unity stamps heat embossed with white embossing powder.

Sweet Day

This might just be the simplest card I've ever made!  I needed some craft time tonight but wasn't feeling all that crafty (more like exhausted mama) so I was just playing around trying to get something made when this came about.  When I showed it to my husband he said he liked it of course (he's sweet and says that about everything I make) but he also said it looks professional!?!  I laughed at that cause it took me less than 5 minutes to make and he probably only said that because it's not covered in my usual assortment of buttons and ribbon with extra stuff everywhere.  :)  Sometimes simple is good.  The stamps are Unity and I colored them in with my copics and finished it off with a gem as the cherry on top, viola!  Made a few of these to send in my shipment to OWH at the end of the month.

Love ya for OWH

I made a few of these cards for OWH to include in the box that I'll be mailing before the end of the month.  The paper is Graphic 45 and I distressed the edges of the cream cardstock with TH's antique linen distress ink.  The sentiment is Unity and the heart flower stamp is Penny Black.  This is one of favorite sentiment stamps ever since I am always signing everything I send to my friends with Love ya and the font is very cute too!

Sunny Summer Smiles from Snoopy

My 2 year old daughter loves Snoopy so I have a few Snoopy stamps laying around!  I made this card to send to the St. Jude's Childrens Hospital to hopefully bring a smile to a sick child's face.  I plan on making some more this evening for Operation Write Home.  The sentiment stamp is Unity.

Vintage thinking of you

A quick card I made this evening for Operation Write Home.  I needed a some craft time tonight after putting the kids to bed since both of them fought naps today and had meltdowns at our friends BBQ today.
The car stamp is from Technique Tuesday stamped with Tim Holtz walnut stain distress ink.  The papers are My Mind's Eye.  I used my Cricut to cut the stars at 1 1/4" and tied some twine through a couple of buttons to finish it off.

Friday = Friends with Flair!!

I actually made a card more than a month out from the occasion instead of waiting til the last minute!!!  Actually I made this for my hubby and our anniversary isn't until August 25th so I'm 2 months early!

The patterned paper is Echo Park and Graphic 45.  The tags are Tim Holtz.  I love this cute Itty Bitty stamp from Unity!  Thanks for stopping by!

Melmac Anniversary Couple

My in-laws are celebrating their (42nd?) anniversary tomorrow and I put this card together for them last night/today.  When I was trying to come up with a design last night I came across this paper from October Afternoon of the vintage couple and I knew I wanted to do a card around that.  I have seen a few cards lately using this image for a wedding card but I thought it'd be funny to use as an anniversary card especially since my MIL & FIL were married back when Melmac was still popular!  I have also been loving this floral paper from Echo Park and once I decided upon that it sort of all came together nicely (don't you just love it when that happens)!   The finished card is 6x6.

Time 2 Party and Friends with Flair!

I had a playdate for my daughters 2nd birthday this past Monday and actually got it scrapped a couple of days later!  Which made me feel extra guilty since I still haven't scrapped a layout of her 1st birthday. :(  But when inspiration comes I gotta go with it.  I had fun playing with some new stuff for this layout.  My hubby recently bought me the Elegant Edges cart and I busted it out for this LO and used it a lot on here.  I kinda love it and I kinda hate it.  There are so many awesome edge options on this cart and I love the frame options as well but I was annoyed that the largest I could make the scalloped square was 10 1/2"!?!  What's up with that Cricut?  I was using a 12x12 piece of paper and there was lots of extra room on it so I'm not sure why it wouldn't let me cut larger?  My other gripe with the cartridge is probably due more to me needing to break out a new mat.  It was moving the frames around on my mat and it's probably just not sticky enough anymore.
I also got my Unity June KOM in the mail a couple of days ago and thought the birthday sentiment and cupcake would be perfect for this!  Love getting a kit in the mail and busting out the stamps to play with the same day!  The papers are some old Scenic Route that I had laying around in my stash.

B-b-b-bird, bird, bird, bird is the word...

I haven't played with my Nifty Fifties cartridge a whole lot but as soon as I saw this bird image I just knew that I had to make this card!!!  It is a running joke between me and my hubby and also between me and my BFF since that Family Guy episode when Peter Griffin is obsessed with the song to try to get the song stuck in the other one's head.  LOL, of course while making this card I had the song stuck in my head so much that it pretty much backfired!  Ended up giving it to my hubby today when he was having a rough day and his laughter was SO worth it!  Made another card for the BFF that I'm gonna stick in the mail in the morning.  :)

The bird is cut at 3 3/4".  I embossed the wing with tiny dots and the green background with a Tim Holtz music notes embossing folder.  The patterned paper is My Minds Eye.

Cupcake toppers

I had the best intentions of decorating for my daughters birthday playdate as well as family birthday party but once again a lack of time got the best of me.  I threw these cupcake toppers together the night before her birthday playdate with some of her friends.  I WISH, WISH, WISH that Cricut would come out with a Snoopy/Peanuts Gang cart cause my daughter is just so obsessed with Snoopy and Charlie Brown!  As it is I had to search to find even these stickers that are kinda lame but she loved them anyway.  I cut the scalloped circles out at 2" and the 2 at 1 3/4" from A Child's Year.  My first attempt at making cupcake toppers but thankfully they came together pretty quickly.  Next birthday I just need to start planning MUCH sooner!

Fairy wishes birthday card

My daughter turned 2 on Monday and this is the card I made for her.  I have to admit that I pretty much scraplifted it from Cricut magazine because life has been busy, busy, busy and I haven't had much time to craft this past month.

The card is made from a 5 1/2 by 12 piece of patterned paper and scored at 3 and 6 inches.  The fairy is cut at 5" from A Child's Year.  The tag is cut at 2", 1 3/4" and 1 1/2" from Once Upon A Princess.  Happy Birthday is cut from A Child's Year as well at 2 3/4".  Sometimes it's nice to just pretty much follow a design for a card when time is short.
